A schema is a pattern of encoded knowledge that we can use to make sense of the world
Examples
- A horse has a tail and four legs ← This is a schema. A pattern that can be applied to other instances
- Attending a party. You know there will be food, drinks, music, and dance ← This is another schema. You don’t know what’s actually there but you have this schema based on prior experience
